19 June 2007 -- Imminent Immigration
I have decided not to continue describing my various fears about the fast-approaching future. It's only fair (to myself, especially) that I consider the many reasons that I have to look ahead with eagerness and hope. All that concern-chronicling was just further entrenching my trepidations. So, here's why I'm psyched to be starting a new life on the other side of the globe...
1) I'm starting a new life on the other side of the globe! How cool/rare/special is that?!
2) My new home is a Mediterranean beach town with a temperate climate (and only occasional showers of Katyusha rockets).
3) My new boss is someone for whom I already have much respect and who seems genuinely excited to have me on board.
4) I have the opportunity to spread KIPP's vision -- dare I say gospel? -- to uncharted territory. Just don't call me a missionary!
5) If this works out well, then I will have established a new dimension of my career path and personal achievement. If it does not go well, then I will have spent a year overseas, learning a new culture, language, and landscape. I can't lose!
6) Maybe -- just maybe -- I needed a break from KHHS. I love that school, but it was wearing me out. Perhaps this is a healthy shift...perhaps.
7) I LOVE FALAFEL!!! 'Nuff said.
